Scratch Programming

About Scratch

Scratch is a programming language designed by staff at the American university MIT. The language was created to teach the concepts of programming and computation to young people.

Scratch is visual - you drag blocks around to create your programs. No special knowledge is needed to get started.

Scratch is £free to download and works on most platforms. You can download the version you need from,

The Pages In This Section

The examples, explanations and activities in this section of the web site are designed to provide an introducton to programming as well as to Scratch itself.

Many people use Scratch to make simple games and animations - that is included here but only where it is relevant to the programming concepts being discussed.

Whatever it is you want to program in Scratch, working through the activities in the Programming Concepts section will provide you with a decent introduction.
