Despite the appearance, the polymorphix is just a skewb with big ugly pieces stuck to the centres. You can use the centre pieces as something to grab when turning, which makes it a little more comfortable for me than a normal skewb.
I haven't noticed any other difference in how you solve it. A plain old skewb method will get you to the end without any difficulty.
This is a Meffert's puzzle althought the one in the picture is probably a knock-off. My one is nowhere near the quality of the skewb which enjoys a wonderfully robust mechanism. It's also a little on the large side.
